Barcelona is working tirelessly to improve their squad and remain competitive in La Liga as they aim to Brazilian starlet dubbed the ‘Brazilian Busquets’.

Barcelona need a defensive midfielder who can play out from the defence and the Catalan club has been linked with a move for Vasco da Gama’s teenage sensation Andrey Santos as per a report in Mundo Deportivo.

Santos, 18, would be a valuable addition to the club considering the form of Sergio Busquets in recent times with Barcelona sporting director Jordi Cruyff is working on acquiring the services of Andrey Santos as early as the upcoming January transfer window.

However, Barcelona is not in the race to sign the midfielder alone with Premier League club Newcastle United also in contention for the signature of the 18-year-old prodigy.

Barcelona defender back for Villarreal clash

Newcastle United is prepared to make a bid of €35 million offer for Santos in the summer but they cooled down on their pursuit but will make a move in the winter transfer.

The midfielder recently signed a new contract with Vasco da Gama in September which will keep him in the club till 2027 and the Brazilian team will hold on to his €40 million release clause that exists in his new deal when suitors come knocking. If Barcelona cannot meet his valuation they could look elsewhere for recruitment.

Barcelona is also lined with a move for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves as an immediate solution to their midfield challenge.
