Barcelona is not done with the transfer business yet and the club is still busy going on with the summer business with some arrivals and departures still expected at Camp Nou.
Barcelona is expected to witness a departure with Samuel Umtiti is a step away from joining Serie A outfit Lecce on loan, the club has met with Barcelona directors about the deal to sign the Frenchman for the season.
Lecee’s only issue with the deal is the salary of the defender and talks have slowed down because the Serie A outfit is not buoyant enough to take on such a deal, Lecce is willing to pay Umtiti according to the number of games he plays with Barcelona paying the entire wage and the money would be deducted according to the number of games he plays with the Barcelona and Lecce have an agreement in place for this.
If Barcelona agreed to this deal, their wage bill will not be reduced, though Umtiti’s contract is not as high as it ought to be as he renewed his contract with the Catalan club in order to defer the payment of his wage bill over the next few years.
The signing of Jules Kounde has given Barcelona more flexibility in the deal and could entertain Lecce’s deal if that is the only option available for the defender.
Umtiti’s game time has been limited both for club and country due to injury and he is keen on fighting his way back to the top and probably makes the cut the World Cup for France.
The 28-year-old defender joined Barcelona from Lyon in 2016 and has won two La Liga titles, three Copa del Rey titles and two Spanish Super Cups.
Barcelona will take on Real Sociedad in their next La Liga on Sunday having drawn their opener against Rayo Vallecano last week.
