Barcelona president Joan Laporta wants two Barcelona players out of the club this summer.

Laporta has made it clear that the club is no longer interested in the services of both Samuel Umtiti and Martin Braithwaite ahead of the coming season.

French defender Umtiti penned a four-deal with Barcelona in January and he has been told to leave that his service is no longer needed at the club as he is not part of the club’s plan.

The signing of Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen and Jules Kounde from Sevilla has made Umtiti’s services at the club irrelevant.

The former Lyon defender only made one appearance for the Catalan team last season, his season was marred by injuries and the 28-year-old defender has been told to leave, he won two La Liga titles, three Copa del Rey crowns and two Spanish Super Cups during his time at Camp Nou, representing the club on 133 occasions in all competitions.

For Braithwaite’s case, the 31-year-old defender has two years left in his contract with Barcelona but he has been told to find a new club as he is not part of Xavi Hernandez’s plan this season. The attacker started the season in great form but a knee slowed him down in the course of the season

“They (Umtiti and Braithwaite) have understood that the best thing is to go play for another team. Their contracts have always been respected, but the time has come when they have to take a step forward. This week they have to fix both of them,” Laporta told reporters.

Braithwaite joined Barcelona from Leaganes in a quick fix for injured Ousmane Dembele in the February of 2020, it is believed the Denmark attacker has informed Barcelona he wants his final two years of his contract paid off in a bid to leave the club on a free transfer this summer.

Braithwaite is believed to have recently told Barcelona that he wants the final two years of his contract paid up if he must leave Camp Nou this summer.

The forward has represented the Catalan side on 57 occasions in all competitions, contributing 10 goals and five assists in the process.
