Ghana have inflicted another pain on Nigeria after the Black Galaxies beat Home-Base Eagles 5-4 in a penalty shootout in the 2022 CHAN Championship qualifiers at the Mosood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Saturday night.

Salisu Yusuf-led side could not break the Ghana defense line after playing a goalless first half in the Nigerian capital as the home side needs two goals to overturn the first leg encounter.

The Home-Based Super Eagles get their reward in the second half when substitutes Plateau United defender Rabiu Muhammad Zulkifilu finds the back of the net in the 76th minute.

NPFL top scorer Chijioke Akuneto equalises for Nigeria in the last kick of the game as he cancels the first leg deficit to give hope alive to the Super Eagles B side after most of the home team fans have left the stadium.

The encounter goes straight into penalties with no 30 minutes of extra time Nigeria missed the third spot kick as Ghana scored their five penalties to seal a place in the tournament in Algeria.
