La Liga giant Real Sociedad have unveiled inform Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq after signing a six years contract from UD Almeria.
The 25-year-old Nigeria international has been instrumental since moving to Power House Stadium from Partizan Belgrade where find back of the net 43 times in 84 appearances after helping Almeria back to the Spanish topflight.
Sadiq has been the talking point of his team after he been linked with a move to Villarreal, Sevilla, and Getafe before Real Sociedad snatched the Super Eagles striker.
The transfer fee is undisclosed but sources close to the negotiations say the deal is worth an initial 20 million euros plus six million euros in potential add-ons.
The statement read: “Sociedad has reached an agreement with UD Almería for the transfer of Sadiq Umar. La Real, in turn, has reached an agreement with the player until the end of the 27-28 season. He will wear number 25.
“The player arrived in Donostia this morning, underwent a medical examination at the Gipuzkoa Polyclinic, and, in the afternoon, signed his new contract.”
Sadiq is expected to replace Alexander Isak in Sociedad’s attack following the Swede’s record move to Premier League side Newcastle United has two goals from three games to his name this season.
The 2016 Olympic games bronze medalist will be looking forward to helping La Real challenge for the UEFA Europa League crown and having a decent outing in the domestic league and cup tournament.
Sadiq started his career with Abuja college before a spell in various Europe clubs becomes the second Nigerian player to feature for Real Sociedad after Super Eagles legend Mutiu Adepoju.
