Nigerian defender Bruno Sopuruchukwu Onyemaech has joined the Portuguese club Boavista on a season-long loan until the end of the 2022-2023 season.

The 23-year-old is a versatile player who can as a left-back or central defender made 30 appearances across all competitions and scored two goals for CD Feirense last season.

Boavista announces the signing of Onyemaechi via the club’s official website, “Bruno Onyemaechi is the latest addition to Boavista FC, having arrived at Bessa on loan from CD Feirense, in a loan valid until the end of the 2022/23 season and which includes a purchase option,”

“Bruno Onyemaechi now arrives at Bessa to reinforce the squad at Petit’s orders, after having also been on several occasions among the pre-selected to represent the Nigeria national team.”

The Owerri-born star has been named in Nigeria’s provisional squad list on several occasions has been on the books of CD Feirense for the last four seasons and has once stints at Lillestrom, SC Vila Real and Santa Maria de Feira club.

Onyemaechi will be hoping to make his debut for his new club in the Primeira Liga club when Bovista welcome Benfica to a league encounter at Estádio do Bessa on Saturday evening tie.
