Enyimba have confirmed double signings of Ikenna Cooper and Chigozie Chilekwu ahead of the new Nigeria Professional Football League season.

The People Elephants have been strengthy their squad for the upcoming season after a disappointing seventh finished last season and missing continental football.

Ikenna Cooper and Chigozie Chilekwu put pen to paper on a two-year contract with Enyimba after the duo completed their medicals.

The People Elephants made announced the signings via their official Twitter handle and they unveiled the former Sunshine Stars players.

Cooper will bring his midfield experience to Geroge Finidi’s side after having a spell with Ifeanyi Ubah, Heartland FC, and Sunshine Stars in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Chilekwu also signs a two-year contract with the Aba-based team and he will fill the left-back position after Ghanaian duo Daniel Darkwah and Emmanuel Ampiah depart Enyimba in the summer.

The 26-year-old provides versatility as he can also operate comfortably as a wing forward and in central midfield.

Enyimba has now signed six new players following the arrival of attacking midfielder Elijah Akanni from MFM FC, Sunday Okereke, Moses Omoduemuke, and Ademola Adebambo.

Okereke linked up with the eight-time Nigeria Professional Football League champions from Nasarawa United after a solid performance for Solid Miners last campaign.

Omoduemuke leaves Shooting Stars Sports Club for Enyimba after he scored and bagged an assist in 3SC’s 2-0 win against Peoples Elephant at Adamasingba Stadium last season.

Adebambo will line up for two-time African Champions next season after a spell with Ottasolo FC and Kwara United.

Enyimba are also hoping to win next season’s NPFL title when the new season kicks off. having last done so in 2019.
