Forgotten Super Eagles striker Anthony Ujah is very excited after joining his fifth German club Eintracht Braunschweig on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old Benue-born scorer is on the lookout for a new club after his contract with Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin expired at the end of last month.
Ujah put pen to paper on a one-year contract with Bundesliga 2 side, Eintracht Braunschweig, until June 30, 2023, with an option for another season.
The Nigeria international who has seven appearances for the Super Eagles without scoring a goal as was a member of the three-time Africa Champions squad to the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil, where he started in a 6-1 rout of Tahiti but the former Warri Wolves man is a household name in Germany after playing for five differences clubs where he 198 times and find back of the net on 54 occasions.
Ujah told the club’s official website: “I am very happy to be part of Eintracht in the future. I know the 2nd Bundesliga and will try to help the team with my experience. I was rooting for the cup game at the airport in Nigeria on Sunday and I was really happy for the team.
“At the end of the day we want to celebrate relegation together, and I will invest everything in that,” adds newcomer.
“With Anthony we’ve got an experienced striker who, with his complete fitness, will further enhance our squad on the offensive and especially on goal. At the same time, our young attackers will benefit from his experience. Tony is an absolute team player,” says Eintracht sporting director Peter Vollmann about the new signing.
