La Liga hopeful Leganes have reacted after naming Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo as their permanent club captain ahead of the 2022-2023 league season.
The 28-year-old Nigeria international moved to Estadio Municipal Butarque on loan on 15 August 2018 after leaving Chelsea without making any single appearance for the Blues.
Omeruo joined Leganes permanently the following season after featuring 31 times in La Liga without finding the back of the net.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner rescued Leganes from going down Spanish Segunda after a disappointing 18th-placed finish at the end of the 2019-2020 season.
Omeruo has been a loyal employee at Estadio Municipal Butarque for the past four years despite being linked away from the club as he decided to stay back at the Cucumber Growers to them back to La Liga.
The Spanish club s rewarded the Kaduna-born defender for his loyalty to the club since moving to Spain from London after they made the announcement via their social media handle.

Omeruo will serve as the club captain, he will be assisted by four others, including Juan Muñoz Muñoz, Jose Manuel Arnaiz, Sergio González, and Asier Riesgo.
Omeruo’s primary objective as the team captain is to return Leganes to La Liga and it will begin this coming weekend when they host relegated Alaves in a matchday one encounter of the Segunda Division for 2022-2023 season.
