Super Eagles duo of Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis humble as Erling Haaland powers home another hat-trick in just 38 minutes as Manchester City wallop Nottingham Forest 6-0 in the Wednesday Premier League encounter at Etihad Stadium.
This was the first meeting between the two teams in 13 years and Forest were quickly under pressure in 12 minutes of the game as Haaland opens the floodgate after he got ahead of his marker to meet Phil Foden’s cross at the near post and tapped home beyond Dean Henderson.
The Norwegian then had his second of the night just over 10 minutes later, scoring an easy tap-in from close range again.
Haaland completes his hattrick in 38 minutes of the first half and scores his nine goals for the campaign to kill the contest as the break approached, taking advantage of some dire Forest defending to head home on the goal-line following a deep free-kick.
Joao Cancelo added a fourth when he drove home Bernardo Silva’s fine pass across the penalty area before Haaland’s strike partner Julian Alvarez took center stage as the Argentine capped the night for Pep Guardiola’s side with two goals on his full Premier League debut.
The victory keeps the Premier League champions within two points of early leaders Arsenal in the table, while Nottingham Forest remain on four points.
