Manchester City is set to hijack Leicester City transfer target of Nigerian descent Manuel Akanji, according to various reports.

The 27-year-old defender’s future with Borussia Dortmund is in doubt after he has yet to any single appearance for the Bundesliga giant this season so far where he made 26 appearances in the 2021-2022 campaign.

Akanji has now entered the final 12 months of his contract at Westfalenstadion as the Nigerian descent looking up a new challenge after making more than 150 appearances for the Black and Yellow during his four-and-a-half year in Germany.

According to The Athletic claim that Manchester City are in advanced talks to hijack the deal from Leicester City after nearing £15m an agreement with Borussia Dortmund about signing Switzerland defender Akanji.

Akanji was one time linked with a move to Arsenal, Manchester United, Juventus, and Inter Milan and will become Pep Guardiola’s fifth signing of the summer after the arrival of EErling Braut Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, Stefan Ortega, and Sergio Gomez at the Etihad Stadium.
