It has been reported that Barcelona players suffered injuries during the FIFA break and the club has released some fresh updates on the injuries to Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay.

The club has released some updates concerning their physical conditions and their possible return to action.

Depay was forced off against Poland in the UEFA Nations League in the second half by manager Louis van Gaal and was not in the Netherlands next clash against Belgium and it was confirmed that he would return to Barcelona.

De Jong was a substitute against Poland, he was introduced to the game that way for precautionary motives, However, soon it emerged that the midfielder, too, would play no further part with the Dutch national team and would return to Barça.

The Catalan club’s medical department carried out examinations on the Netherlands duo and provided an official diagnosis of their injuries. The statement released by Barcelona reads as follows:
“The tests carried out this afternoon have confirmed the injuries of Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay.

“Midfielder Frenkie De Jong has a strain in the semitendinosus of his left thigh. He is short and his evolution will mark his availability. For its part, Memphis suffers an injury to the biceps femoris of the left thigh. He is low and its evolution will mark its availability.”

De Jong and Depay would join the likes of Jules Kounde and Ronald Araujo on the sidelines, with the latter set for surgery later this week that will keep him out of action for over two months.
