Super Eagles goal machine Victor Osimhen mocks Hella Verona supporters after scoring his first goal of the 2022-23 season in Napoli 5-2 away win at Stadio M. A. Bentegodi on Monday night.
Former Lille man made the first Napoli line-up for Luciano Spalletti’s men missed two opportunities in the 11th and a minute side-footing both attempts wide of the mark.
However, Verona took the lead in the 29th minute of play after Kevin Lasagna fired a shot into the bottom corner but Napoli leveled the score through Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who headed in a cross from Mexico international Harvin Lazano.
The visitors turned it around with a goal almost identical to Verona’s, this time a corner was flicked on by Giovanni Di Lorenzo for Osimhen to stick out a long leg at the back post. His celebration mocked some in the crowd who had been hurling racist abuse.
Thomas Henry levelled things up in the 48th minute before Osimhen missed a great chance with a left-footed shot two minutes later.
Super Eagle striker was booked for a bad foul in the 54th minute before Piotr Zielinski put Napoli ahead again one minute later.
Stanislav Lobotka and Matteo Politano added the icing to the cake with the latter’s goal being assisted by Osimhen.
Osimhen scores in the opening round of a top five league for the second time since 19-20 season opener for Lille.
