Napoli 3-0 win over Rangers ensured they maintain the maximum points in two games to remain on top of their group ahead of Liverpool in the Champions League
Allan McGregor was forced into action to deny Giovanni Simeone a scoring opportunity in the 18th minute of the match with Rangers not also having some shots saved by Alex Merit.
Ranger ensured that Napoli’s offensive play was put in check with the home team waiting for the perfect time to strike, Napoli pushed to break the deadlock with 10 goal attempts compared to the Rangers’ eight goal attempts, it was the host that had the most numbers of shots on goal with three shot on gaols compared to Napoli two shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes of the clash with the away team having a slight advantage on the ball possession.
James Sands was given his marching order and was sent off in the 55th minute while the referee awarded a penalty for Napoli but Piotr Zielinski missed from the spot twice as Rangers held on but with 10 men.
Matteo Politano let Napoli off the hook following his strike from the penalty spot to make it 1-0 after Borna Barisic handed the ball into his box in the 67th minute of the clash.
Napoli went on to score two late goals with Giacomo Raspadori and Tanguy Ndombele adding their tallies to make it 3-0.
Rangers will host Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership while Napoli will take a trip to San Siro to face AC Milan in Serie A.
