Real Madrid fans are sweating over the fitness of Karim Benzema whose absence has been almost three weeks without any news of coming back ahead of the El-Clasico.

Benzema suffered a thigh injury against Celtic in the Champions League and ever since there has been no news about his recovery nor his return and this has got many of the club fans worried.

Though his absence was not felt with other players stepping up to get the goals for Real Madrid, he was forced off against Celtic when the scoreline was still 0-0, Vinicius, Luka Modric and Eden Hazard ensured Real Madrid never lacked the goals to claim the whole three points and against Real Mallorca, Federico Valverde, Vinicius, Rodrygo and Antonio Rudiger all were on the score sheet for Los Blancos and against Atletico Madrid Rodrygo and Valverde ensured the ship keeps sailing even without their skipper.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti and fitness coach Antonio Pintus are gradually increasing the workload on his knee, which has bursitis – a condition which causes swelling and pain without full recovery.

The pair has decided to let the French striker go through something of a mini-preseason with Benzema. Ancelotti is keen to have Benzema fighting fit for the intense sprint towards the World Cup. In particular, El Clasico looms large in the coming weeks.

Benzema has four goals to his name this season but he has been far from fitness and he does not look as sharp as he was last season a return to full fitness will help him return to his best in the La Liga, Champions League and the World Cup.
