Real Madrid stars could miss the El-Clasico following their absence from the training on Friday as he continues to struggle for fitness following his recent muscle strain.

Karim Benzema and Thibaut Courtois would miss the match against Getafe, and they were excluded from training with the rest of the team on Friday.

The French attacker missed the match against Mallorca, RB Leipzig and Atletico Madrid last month, he made his return against Osasuna in La Liga and also played in the clash against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.

Benzema failed to score in the two games despite being presented with numerous scoring opportunities and missed from the penalty spot against Osasuna in La Liga.

The attacker was sent to the Gym to work separately from the squad while Courtois was in the gym as well with both players targeting a return against Barcelona in the El-Clasico on 16 October, and Dani Cellabos were the others working inside.

Sevilla vs Athletic Bilbao: Football Tips and Predictions

Benzema was defended by manager Carlo Ancelotti after his goalless outing against Osasuna and Shakhtar Donetsk that goals are not the focus for the player at this stage, with his physical condition the priority.

“He put in a team performance and was a presence in the penalty area,” Ancelotti said of the midweek performance. “He didn’t get on the scoresheet, but that’s the last thing we’re focusing on. His condition has improved a lot and he put in a complete performance.”

It is expected that Ancelotti will give Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Federico Valverde, with the trio likely to come back together if the skipper cannot play.

Benzema was the team’s highest goal scorer last season with 44 goals to his name and remains the favourite to win the 2022 Ballon d’Or.
