Barcelona manager Xavi Hernadez wants Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso at the Camp Nou this week, according to report in Marca.

Barcelona played a goalless draw against Rayo Vallecano and after the match at the press conference, the manager insisted that the club will need more reinforcement in a bid to add more depth to the squad.

Xavi wants the team to strengthen the full-back position having missed out on the signing of Chelsea signing Cesar Azpilicueta he is now focused on another Blues player Marcos Alonso as he wants to solve the issue on the flanks, he has also informed the board that he needs a right-full back as well and several players have been linked to Barcelona in the last few days.

On the left flank, Jordi Alba has passed his best and against Rayo Vallecano, he was exposed and Xavi has made a call for reinforcement and that’s where Marcos Alonso comes in. The club already has the player’s approval.

Chelsea is willing to let Alonso leave having signed Marc Cucurella in his position and still, on the left flank the Blues can still count on Ben Chiwell so letting Alonso leave is not a bad investment for the Stamford Bridge outfit.

The deal is underway and it’s just about closing the operation once and for all with Chelsea this week.

Barcelona only need to guarantee the full-back his registration, Chelsea is also interested in signing some players from Barcelona, the likes Sergino Dest and Frenkie de Jong are on the radar of the Blues.

Manchester United is also in the mix and the Dutch midfielder favours a move to Old Trafford than join forces with Thomas Tuchel’s team.

Alonso is already a surplus to requirement at Chelsea and Tuchel has also told the Spanish international to leave this summer as such Barcelona is expected to get an easy ride in sealing the deal to sign the former Bolton Wanderers and Fiorentina defender.
