Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has beaten all his rivals to another record ahead of the Qatar World Cup, the Portuguese attacker has been named the most powerful football on Instagram.
Ronaldo tops the 10 most powerful footballers on Instagram with 480 million followers on the social media platform – more than any other player who will star in Qatar, his posts are valued to be £3.1million.
Ronaldo’s followers increased last year by 47% and he has a 2.25% engagement rate on the posts, Ronaldo is followed by Lionel Messi who has 360 million followers and an individual post value of £2.3million.
Neymar is third on the list with 178million followers and Kylian Mbappe has 72.5 million followers who is ranked fourth with both of their posts worth just over £ 1 million.
Real Madrid ace Vinicius is ranked fifth, the Brazilian forward has the highest follower growth rate of 89.69%, while France’s N’Golo Kante enjoys the biggest engagement rate of 11.18%.
Los Blancos attacker Karim Benzema is ranked 6th, followed by AS Roma attacker Paulo Dybala, N’Golo Kante, Paul Pogba and finally former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.
The most popular team account is that of reigning world champions France, who have 11.7 million followers. In Les Bleus’ squad, Mbappe, Karim Benzema, Kante and Pogba all make the top 10 players list.
England’s 8.5 million followers rank them fourth, behind Brazil (11.5 million) and Portugal (10.4million).
Ronaldo’s pull is emphasised by the fact that 86% of Portugal’s fans come from outside of the country – the largest percentage in the top 10. England is second in that regard, with 79% of their supporters hailing from elsewhere.
