Super Eagles star Shehu Abdullahi has become the highest-paid player after their salary was revealed at PF Levski Sofia.
The 29-year-old ended his two years relationship with Omonia Nicosia to team up with 26-time Bulgarian Champions on a one-year contract that is valid till the end of the 2022-2023 season with an option for extension.
Abdullahi has been a free agent and unattached in the last three months after winning the Cypriot league title and Super Cup in his first season at the club before helping Omonia Nicosia to clinch Cyprus Cup in his final season at GSP Stadium.
According to Sportal.bg revealed that Sokoto-born versatile star will earn 9,000 euros (approximately N3.8 million in Nigerian currency) at Levski Sofia every month, and none of the other players at the club are earning a similar amount at the moment.
Abdullahi who joined Levski Sofia as a free agent and is a seasoned international with appearances at the World Cup, Africa Cup of Nations, and Olympic Games, logically was able to negotiate a greater pay than his teammates.
The Super Eagles player offers flexibility because he can operate as a center defender, right-back, and defensive midfielder.
Abdullahi was used as a center defender for Levski Sofia in his unofficial debut, playing for 45 minutes in a 4-0 victory over FC Slivnishki Geroy last weekend. He is a candidate to play in another friendly against Slavia on Saturday.
Abdullahi started his career with Plateau United before a spell at Kano Pillars, Qadsia, União da Madeira, Anorthosis, Bursaspor, and Omonia Nicosia.
