Erik Ten Hag wanted Manchester United to rekindle their interest in Victor Osimhen in the winter transfer window in 2023.

The 23-year-old Nigeria international has continued to be the subject of links over a move to the Premier League after an impressive performance with Napoli since arriving at Deigo Maradona Stadium from Lille.

Osimhen has scored a truckload of goals after finding the back of the net on 30 occasions from 68 appearances in all competitions for Luciano Spaletti’s side.

According to Manchester Evening News reports that Red Devils will revive their interest in Super Eagles striker in the January transfer window with Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford still up in the air.

A report in August claim that Manchester United was considering a swap deal with Osimhen and Ronaldo to Napoli, but this idea did not materialize.

Osimhen has had a pretty solid start to the season playing six games for the Serie A giants scoring two goals and providing one assist across all competitions before sustaining a hamstring injury in Napoli’s 4-1 mauling of Liverpool on the 7th of September.

The Nigerian striker still has three years remaining on his contract at Deigo Maradona Stadium as he was still the most expensive African footballer in history when he joined Napoli in a deal worth around £70m in July 2020.

Osimhen is set to return from injury immediately after the international break on Matchday 3 of the UEFA Champions League play away at the Johan Cruyff Arena against Calvin Bassey’s Ajax Amsterdam on Tuesday, October 4 before taking on Cyriel Dessers, David Okereke and Emmanuel Aiwu’s Cremonese.
