The real reason Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel refused to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United has been revealed.

The Manchester United star is willing to leave Old Trafford after the Red Devil failed to qualify for the Champions League with clubs across Europe unwilling to sign the Portuguese star, the likes of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund among others at a point showed interest in his service but such interest sudden slowed down.

Chelsea at a point wanted the former Real Madrid and Juventus attacked and has also followed the path of several other clubs who dropped interest in the services of the veteran goal scorer.

Tuchel enquired about the signing of Ronaldo from his fellow countryman Ralf Rangnick who managed the Portuguese attacker last season.

According to the Times, new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly was keen on signing Ronaldo and saw him as the ideal player to lead their attack this season, but Tuchel was discouraged by the feedback he got from Ragnick, he was told that Ronaldo would not fit into Chelsea’s setup due to his disinterest in pressing the opposition.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag insists he wants to keep Ronaldo at the club for this season.

“We plan with him (Ronaldo), so we want him to stay. That is what we want,” the Dutchman stated.

Chelsea was among the front runners to sign Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, but Thomas Tuchel opted against the move.

Ronaldo and his former Real Madrid teammate Casemiro were introduced from the bench in the 1-0 win against Southampton.
