Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has addressed the costly errors that caused the team heavy defeat against Leeds United in their Premier League clash on Sunday evening at the Elland Road.

Tuchel believed that it was not the difference in tactics, the mentality of the team or the intense high-pressing style of Leeds United.

‘We scored an own goal, gave an awfully cheap set-piece away, and conceded from it,” the German explained during his pre-match press conference.

Tuchel gives an update on N’Golo Kante’s injury

“This has nothing to do with pressing, running fewer kilometres, nothing to do with the style of Leeds. We should not confuse these things.

“We were able to cope with the style, be the better team, be one or two goals ahead, but we give a goal away, and the set piece has nothing to do with anything. From there, it’s 2-0, and the belief for Leeds is on the top level, and our body language, even in the ten minutes before, was not what it was like in the last match.”

Chelsea’s defensive mistakes continue to hurt them, Tuchel built a solid defence backline during his early days at Stamford Bridge which seems to be impenetrable, in the opening 30 Premier League matches in charge, the Blues conceded 17 times.

In the following 30, that figure stands at 34, individual errors have been the mean issue with Edouard Mendy seems to make such a common thing having made eight top-flight errors leading to goals.

Tuchel and his team need to arrest this abnormally if they must compete for the title this season, up next for the Stamford Bridge outfit is the clash against Leicester City at the home, defender Khalidou Coulibaly and N’Golo Kante are expected to miss the tie against the Foxes.
