Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed the exit of a top Chelsea player at the end of the current campaign, following the 1-0 win over West Han United in the Premier League on Sunday.
Antonio Rudiger is prepared to depart from the club at the end of the season when his contract expires, the 29-year-old defender has refused to renew his deal and the current sanctions imposed on the club by the UK government – as well as the uncertainty over the potential new owners – has led him to decide that his future lies away from Stamford Bridge.
“The situation is that he wants to leave the club. He informed me of this is in a private talk,” Tuchel said when asked about Rudiger.
“We gave everything – me and the club – but we could not fight anymore because of the actions.
“Without the sanctions, we would at least be able to carry on fighting, but our hands are tied. We don’t take it personally. It is his decision.”
The former AS Roma defender is likely to join Real Madrid, though the likes of Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich are all interested in his service.
