Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel leapt to the defence of his team’s poor display against Everton at Goodison Park in their Premier League opener on Saturday.
The Blues took all three points in their 1-0 victory over Everton.
The German tactician admits the match is not one of the club’s best matches but the main focus is getting the job done and claiming the maximum points obtainable.
“Well, it’s always about the win. When you play Premier League it’s always about the win. I said it to your colleagues, a win is a win. It’s the most important, it’s what we play for. Of course, it’s very important to build now confidence.
To build up belief. To build up an atmosphere and to be open for improvement, be open to criticism. Because there are a lot of things to improve. But there are also good things to take away like you said.
Like we struggled in the last years, like with Chelsea, to steal the points here and to win. We got also three, we got a clean sheet, and from here we go.”
Chelsea will welcome in-form Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge for their next Premier League match.
Antonio Conte’s men won their opening clash against Southampton 4-1 at the London Stadium.
