Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has played down N’Golo Kante’s injury severity when asked in his press conference ahead of their Premier League clash against Leeds United this weekend.
Chelsea will travel to Leeds to face Leeds United at the Elland Road to face Jesse Marsch’s men in match day three in the Premier League without French midfielder Kante.
Kante played Chelsea openers against Everton and Tottenham Hotspur but was unable to finish the clash against Antonio Conte’s men, the French midfielder collided with Yves Bissouma in the 84th minute and required on-field treatment from Chelsea’s physio before he was eventually hauled off in the 2-2 draw against Spurs
It has since been revealed that Kante could be out for up to a month with the hamstring issue, and he will therefore miss this weekend’s trip to face Leeds at Elland Road.
“Quite serious. We are talking about weeks, which is not good news. We are disappointed and sad because N’Golo was super important and super fit, but he will be out for several weeks.”
Chelsea can no longer rely on Kante to be fit for an entire 38-game league season, so it’s imperative there’s quality depth in his area of the pitch, Conor Gallagher, 22, could end up being the biggest beneficiary from Kante’s imminent absence.
Kante is likely to miss the match against Leicester City, Southampton, WestHam, Fulham and Liverpool.
