Former Arsenal manager Unai Emery has sent a starking warning to Liverpool ahead of the returned leg against Villarreal in Spain next week.
The La Liga outfit have a mountain to climb after losing 2-0 to Premier League title challenger in Anfield courtesy of Pervis Estupinan’s own goal and Sadio Mane’s finish on Wednesday night.
Arnaut Danjuma and Samuel Chukwueze lead Villarreal in attack failed to make a single shot on target on the night, but Emery has insisted that the Liverpool will not find it so easy on Spanish turf.
“The match next week will be very different from tonight. They are going to suffer more in Villarreal,” Emery told BT Sport.
The Yellow Submarine held Juventus to a draw and beat Bayern Munich at Estadio de la Cerámica in the Champions League this season.
Emery will also be hopeful of having Gerard Moreno back for the second leg, with the Spanish striker scoring 13 goals and creating six assists in 26 games for Villarreal in all tournaments this term.
Villarreal travel to Alaves in La Liga, while Liverpool prepare for a lunchtime trip to Newcastle United on Saturday before the second leg on Tuesday next week at Estadio de la Cerámica.
