Villarreal fought back to earn a 1-1 draw against Sevilla in the La Liga on Sunday afternoon at the Ceramica stadium, with Oliver Torres’ goal cancelled out by Alex Baena second-half goal.

Sevilla attacker Oliver Torres broke the deadlock in the eighth minute of the match. The host was on the verge of equalising via Dani Parejo but his effort crashed against the bar in the 27th minute.

Villarreal stepped up and took the game to Sevilla in the second half, the host created a couple of chances before they finally got it right in the 51st minute of the clash with an accurate pass laid to Alex Baena but his effort was saved by Marko Dmitrovic but the attacker made no mistake to score from a rebound this time to make it 1-1.

The clash remain stalemate for the greater part of the second half with Villarreal awarded a penalty but was reversed after VAR checked the incident.

The match ended 1-1 at the La Ceramica Stadium, Villarreal maintained 6th position with 11 points  on the log while Sevilla is in the 15th position and with 5 points from six games

Villarreal will be away to play Cadiz while Sevilla will host Atletico Madrid in their subsequent matches.
